    How do I look up violations on a NYC building?
    Search the address. Every report pulls open and closed HPD violations, DOB violations, and the complaints filed against the building, so you can see what's outstanding and what was cleared.
    Who actually owns my building?
    Most NYC buildings are held by an LLC. Reports name the registered owner, the managing agent, and the people filed behind the entity, plus the other buildings the same names appear on.
    What do 311 complaints tell me about an apartment?
    They're the closest thing to a resident's account of the place: heat and hot water outages, leaks, pests, and noise, with the dates they were called in and what the city found.
    Is a building report free?
    Yes. Violations, complaints, ownership, and block-level context are free on every NYC address. Nothing to sign up for.
    Where does the data come from?
